'Texturificando' Barcelona...

David Fàbregas says he discovered his passion for painting when he was only five years. On one occasion his parents gave him a box of pencils and, when opened, the aroma of wood and colors of each of these traits, he inspired such passion, that from there he knew what his fate.

That concern about the painting and those leaving brush marks in each corner of your home, are now fond memories of an expression that has evolved to find its own guidelines, its unique way of seeing the world and to portray Barcelona.

Trained in this art form and a great teacher as was Joan Abelló, Fabregas has dabbled in different styles: realism, impressionism, cubism, pointillism, to honor his idol paintings, Van Gogh. But still pouring into these streams, none Fabregas finally convinced him and needed to find their own artistic technique. "Painting pictures I realized I was missing something, I need to express the way I wanted. It was like following a trend that others had created." That nonconformity innate and 'learning to unlearn', was born a new concept evolved during its own making: the texturificación.

It is precisely in the Study Groc, a beautiful penthouse located in Olesa de Montserrat , where he explains how it arises and what is referred to this technique. "The late texturifificación Cadaqués arises when, after researching with paintbrushes, colors, fabrics and spatulas - to the point of thinking about leaving the painting, I realized the brilliance that acquired the stones under the water. That was the brightness was missing in my work. A sense comparable to the salad dress ... when you add oil and vinegar, the salad has life, brightness, color glitters. That's how I started researching and I thought if I was painting combining layers transparencies and diffuse forms, which goal was to create a three dimensional effect and generate a sense that the colors float above the cloth. "

In texturificación, the intensity of light projected on the table is also important because it allows him to acquire different shades. The use of certain anti UV material that the work does not deteriorate with light and also that can be touched.

Development of a technique itself, legitimate jobs arise as the portraits of Barcelona by night and day, the women's 'Passion Rouge', the series 'Cokes' or 'Montaditos' as well as Mare Nostrum, Primeval or Erotic Worlds in motion .

Barcelona and Catalan culture
has a special role in his works. "In this city of my birth, should pay tribute and what better than to do my paintings." La Sagrada Familia, Montserrat, Barcelona by night or day green skies orange skies and more are part of their work, as he explains, "is my own way of seeing the city." Hence, entrepreneurs like Salvat or chef Ferran Adrià have some of his works.

The reference works of this painter in the city are mostly exposed to public reserved, petit committee, restaurants bars illegal or mythical, as the latest and still current intervention in Casa Alfonso. From their point of view, likes to "the works forming part of the environment and context."

With collaborations with companies dedicated fashion and jewelry companies like Haas-, which also shares a novel system that certifies the works and prevent counterfeiting-, Fàbregas continues to experiment and his studio is a real laboratory. "Now I'm experimenting with rust," he says.

For this 2012 new proposals ahead. With a major international expansion, is considering the possibility of painting other cities like Tel Aviv or New York and establishing new partnerships with other prestigious firms.

If we ask what Fàbregas he likes of Barcelona, he says "the Tibidabo ... because it is up the hill and from there you can see the whole city, and at night is perfect to define the city."

The private home of Manuel Rocamora, which contains an impressive collection of art, you can discover this Easter combining the exclusivity of the visit to the mansion with fun activities for children.

We recommend!

"El Bulli-Cooking in Progress" is the documentary about the complex and creative process of the experimental kitchen of Ferran Adrià, now on the big screen. A visual pleasure to understand the keys to the success of the restaurant located in the small Cala Montjoi.
