Dario Nocentini, creator of a high cocktail

If there is a staircase that leads to heaven, Dario Nocentini know it. Not only because his work is in Eclipse, the lounge-bar from the floor 26 of the W Hotel, but also because its inspiration from the legendary song "Stairway to Heaven" by Led Zeppelin earned him the national award for the second edition Bacardi Superior Rum Legacy Cocktail Competition 2011. With this recognition, a cocktail will be named 'cocktail of the year' and will become part of the legacy Ron Bacardi. Your new challenge: the world final to be held in Puerto Rico in February 2012 where the winners will participate in all countries where this event takes place. The next competition will be agendanda within the activities held for the 150 anniversary of the signature spirit.

Of Italian origin but living in Barcelona since 2009, Nocentini Darius has always been a restless world of cocktails. From his first job in a bar in Italy where he began to make their own combinations and mixtures; through another experience in London, before finally arriving to Barcelona and with a clear vision of what he wanted to do and where I wanted to be. "In Barcelona I started working on a cocktail and thus to documents, read and internalize in this world and the bartender in the city scene." From that moment, "everything else is passion, interest, concern and implement."

It was in Eclipse when learning all that he met a team that gave him the push he needed to develop and evolve professionally. From the side of the bar where he wished to be, Dario Nocentini tell exclusively for BARCELONA deluxe how it has been throughout this process and how you feel after your cocktail was the final winner of Ron Bacardi. "So far this experience has been fantastic. It all started with the website trueoriginals.com where you had to send your recipe and, after a selection process, were spending at the end."

In the final held at Casa Bacardi (Sitges) included five internationally recognized jurors, including the wheels Javier ... How did you feel in that instance?

Super relaxed. Would present my creation so I wanted to convey the sense of the cocktail. It was all very simple.

Tell us about your inspiration for the song "Stairway to Haven" by Led Zeppelin ...

I am a musician too, besides bartender and feel the music and this issue always gave me something, then said, "Why do not you try to transfer that music to me gives me a cocktail" and it was ...

How do you get out to design a cocktail?

There is never a way to develop a cocktail as they are many factors that can affect this process: ingredients, the spirits are going to use, how you feel, your mood .... There is never a way, you just go by the conditions where you are. The truth is that for "Stairway to Heaven" I tried once before coming to find the perfect measurements.

What do you think about the cocktail of Barcelona?

I see that in the past two years have seen an incredible development in Barcelona. From not knowing what was to happen to a cocktail every time you go out asking for a drink. I think it's a matter of education, to carry people to discover things you never tried in your life, is a process of approaching the world of cocktails, a world that is now very well, very high. At European level we are among the first cities.

When we can enjoy your cocktails in Eclipse?

I'm usually almost every day except Wednesday and Thursday. The first hours are lounge-bar. We open at 19 and Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays until later with a roll over party.

What other sites, in addition to Eclipse, recommend to our readers?

In bartending: the bar Boutique Hotel Ohla where two friends of mine: Giuseppe Santamaria Massimo La Rocca. Here readers will find themselves 'at home' and the cocktails are amazing. As for the city, I really like the neighborhood I live in the neighborhood of Gracia, where you can go for a walk, sit on a terrace and enjoy with friends. Also, the beach, I love the beach.

RECIPE: "Stairway to Heaven"


INGREDIENTS:

50 ml Bacardi Rum Superior
1 whole celery
4 pinches of cilantro
20 ml vanilla syrup
20 ml of concentrated pineapple puree
20 ml pineapple juice
1 egg white slightly

PREPARATION:


1. Crush a stalk of fresh celery 15 cm
2. Crush four fresh cilantro leaves
3. Add 50 ml BACARDI Superior Rum
4. Add 20 ml of vanilla syrup
5. Add 20 ml of fresh pineapple puree
6. Squeeze 20 ml fresh lime juice
7. Add a little egg white
8. Shake all ingredients vigorously and drain them in a chilled martini glass
9. Lining: infuse hot water with coriander leaves and celery
10. Side dish: pour hot water over dry ice infused
