Edward Paul Giles, a graduate of Cambridge University, founded the school in 1966. The aim was to provide a British education for the international community of Barcelona. The school opened a primary department in 1968. It grew gradually to its present size of 220-230 pupils between the ages of four and eighteen years. This school is not selective; it aims to provide a sound education for all pupils, regardless of different backgrounds, nationalities, levels of achievement or ability.
